Northwestern Fjord is one of the most rugged and raw sea kayaking destinations in the Kenai Fjords National Park. This ever changing environment  is rich in tide water glaciers, piedmont glaciers, and alpine glaciers. This is wilderness on steroids and is unmatched in its natural beauty.
We start this trip at our office with a meeting at 7:00 am. for paperwork and packing gear. The guide fits your pfd and issues dry bags for your personal gear. We load up and head to the water taxi that leaves at approx. 8:00 am. Your water taxi heads south and out in the gulf along the Kenai Fjords coast. The water taxi will sight see and look for whales, and Orcas while traveling to the drop off beach. The water taxi ride will take 2 hrs. - 3 hrs. to get to the beach drop off.
Price includes, guide, kayak, kayaking gear, boots, gloves, hand warmers,  breakfast, lunch, water taxi, fun!
Key holes are cool!
At the drop off beach we stretch, have a hot drink, and discuss the days paddle itinerary, park rules & regs, Leave No Trace ethics and start our adventure. We paddle through this pristine and geographically diverse area checking out its unique and interesting features.
The destination can change per weather conditions in the bay and winds that
will blow off of the glaciers.  This bay has islands and many tide water glaciers that are accessible by kayaking. Some great hiking exists in a few areas with great views of the fjord.
As the ice retreats year to year we are provided a view of what was once covered by layers of snow and ice. This is a everchanging world that few get the opportunity to see  in such a remote and beautiful area.
Enjoy the rest of the day paddling and your guide will provide interpretive information on the rugged area.

Truly one of the more adventurous overnight trips in a remote and isolated area of the Kenai Fjords National Park. We encourage anyone joining any of our adventures to this area of the park to include a few extra days into their itinerary to allow for weather delays in either your departure or pickup to and from this remote area. We also suggest that you consider trip insurance in case of weather and marine warnings. We provide rubber boots, and gloves to all of our guests. Rain gear is a must even if good weather is predicted..It happens sometimes that the conditions change quickly here in remote Alaska.
The trip departs from our office outside of Seward, with a gear check out and a briefing. We board Capt. Joe Allen's landing craft and depart for Northwestern fjord. While we enjoy our journey out in the bay and outside of the bay we often enjoy the Dall's porpoises bow riding along with our boat. Occasionally we observe Humpback whales, Orcas, Puffins, and Harbor seals along the way. Bear resistant food containers are located at this area.
This area is home to a large population of Black Bears and our guides will carry bear spray for personal protection.
Our MSR tents have proven to handle the elements that we encounter while adventuring in this wilderness.
Join us as we explore newly exposed formations as the ice retreats, this yearly process exposes never before seen land forms and creates amazing new paddle locations.
