We load up into our van and head out to Lowell Point Recreation area just south of Seward. We unload and outfit the kayaks with the proper gear.  We use very stable double kayaks for this trip, and the kayaks do have compartments to stash  your rain gear or sweaters. Dry bags and zip lock bags are provided to keep gear and cameras dry, please let the guide know of your needs. The group will go over the very basics of sea kayaking. Your guide will provide instructions for the groups safety and procedures should any emergency arise. Your group will then start  paddling south on Resurrection Bay closely following the shore. It seems that there is as much to see on the shore as there is on the water! Otters! Eagles! Sea Lions! Bears! Oh MY! Oh yeah, let's not forget the salmon when they are getting ready to spawn. This trip will go to Tonsina creek, and depending on the time, weather, and group, we will decide if paddling on to Bridal Veil
is appropriate.  At Bridal Veil beach we will beach the kayaks, stretch our legs, and share snacks and hydration. A discussion of the salmon stream and the types of salmon that spawn here generally happens here and we try to answer your questions for a bit. Yep, Kayaking can be educational as well as recreational. After this break we will paddle back to Lowell Point. This is a great trip for persons wanting to do a multi adventure day,  this trip provides time to combine this experience with yet another adventure during the same day!

This paddle will bypass Tonsina Creek and break at Bridal Veil or Derby cove depending on conditions and the guides recommendations.
Snacks and hydration will be distributed and generally a discussion of the points of interest are discussed while stretching and relaxing for a few minutes.
After this break, the paddle will proceed along the shore heading southward until we get to the remains of the old Army Dock at Caines Head.(North Beach)
Time permitting we will stretch and rehydrate and decide to hike up to the abandoned Fort McGilvery or just lounge and break out lunch and maybe paddle a bit further past Caines Head out to the Key Hole. The Key Hole is tide dependent as far as having water flowing in and out of it. Puffins get more plentiful as we go past Caines Head.
The trip returns to Caines Head and makes preparations to paddle back to Lowell Point for pick up by our van.
We practice and endorse the Leave No Trace Ethic! We hope you will also.
