Northwestern Glacier Kayaking Trip (Fully Guided Options)

Located in a remote area of Kenai Fjords National Park, Northwestern Fjord provides pristine, world-class sea kayaking and camping. Its beauty is unmatched, with numerous glaciers and protected waters. This part of the park sees fewer visitors due to its location further west than Aialik Glacier Bay.
The Northwestern Glacier Kayaking Trip is designed for groups of four. Smaller parties, please contact us to discuss options.
To reduce costs, we occasionally combine guided and guide-assisted groups. If fewer than four people book, an additional fee may be required for water taxi transport, so please contact us for details.

Trip Description

Our trips start with a meeting at our office the day before we set off. This is a wonderful chance for you to meet your guide and get answers to any questions you might have before our adventure begins the next morning.
On departure day, we’ll gather about an hour before our scheduled time to finalize paperwork and pack our gear. After that, we’ll load everything up and head to the water taxi, which generally departs around 8:00 am, unless we’ve noted otherwise
The water taxi will take us south into the Gulf of Alaska, along the beautiful Kenai Fjords coast. During the 2-3 hour ride, you’ll have plenty of chances to enjoy the scenery and spot wildlife, so keep an eye out for whales, orcas, and other marine life. Once we reach our beach drop-off point, we’ll set up our overnight camp and get your gear and kayaks ready, making sure everything is comfortable and prepared for you. We’ll also go over some basic kayaking instructions, park rules, safety advice, and discuss what the group wants to get out of the trip. If conditions are favorable and the group is up for it, we might take a short paddle in the afternoon to get you familiar with the gear and kayaks. After that, the Fjord is ours to explore!
Our itinerary is flexible to suit your preferences. After our initial meeting, we’ll discuss your expectations and offer suggestions, always keeping an eye on current and expected weather conditions for the duration of the trip. Please remember that rain is common in Alaska, and we ask that you be prepared to paddle in challenging conditions if they occur. To ensure your comfort and safety, please make sure your clothing and rain gear are of good quality.
Finally, we advise considering trip insurance in the event that weather and marine warnings necessitate the cancellation or early termination of a trip.
